Supervise Workplace Safety and Health in Process Plant | SWSHPP | Oil/Petrochemical Safety Orientation Course

Course Overview

The Course equips participants with the skills to supervise and ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations in a process plant environment. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to manage safety measures, identify and control hazards, comply with WSH management systems, and conduct incident investigations. Participants will also learn how to follow the permit-to-work system and conduct safety inspections, ensuring a safer workplace.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Supervise Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) in a Process Plant.

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Have completed the relevant safety training for a process plant
  • Be observant and attentive to safety instructions and measures in place
  • Be able to respond to any sign of potential emergencies
  • Be able to handle equipment with care
  • Be able to practice good housekeeping
  • Be able to communicate with the workers effectively
  • Be able to listen, read, speak, and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 5
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 5

Learning Units:

  • Comply with workplace safety and health legislation, guidelines, and code of practice inputs for risk assessment.
  • Identify, prevent, and control manhole hazards
  • Comply with the safety and health management system
  • Follow a permit to work system
  • Conduct safety and health inspection
  • Conduct incident investigation

Certifications Granted:

WSQ (SOA) Statement of Attainment (e-certificate) will be issued for the courses conducted in English only.

The e-cert will display the Technical Skills & Competencies (TSC) title: Workplace Safety and Health Management in Chemical, Process, Pharmaceutical Industries, and Laboratories. The safety card will show the Competency Unit title: Supervise Workplace Safety & Health in Process Plant.

Trainees must have 100% attendance. Latecomers will NOT be allowed into the class.

To attend the class, trainees must bring one of the following documents (photocopy or original):

Work permit
IPA and Passport
NRIC / S Pass / Employment Pass.
