WSQ Respond to Fire Emergency in Buildings

Course Overview

This course is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to serve as effective members of an Emergency Response Team (ERT) during emergency incidents in public and industrial buildings. Participants will learn how to implement emergency response protocols and ensure safety in premises storing petroleum and flammable materials. Completing this course will enable the ERT to meet the National CERT standards.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Function as a member of an emergency response team to implement emergency response skills during emergency incidents in buildings.

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Participant is required to fill up Form A, (Self Assessment Checklist & Fitness declaration form). If you have answered “Yes” to any of the questions, or if you are not 100% sure of the answer to any of the questions, in Form A, you will need to go through a medical screening before you can take part in the CERT courses.
  • The certificate of fitness (Form C), needs to be endorsed by the examining doctor once he or she is satisfied that the participant is fit to attend the course. The participant will not be allowed to enroll in the course if he or she does not have a valid fitness declaration form or a certificate of fitness. Form A and Form C are attached below.

Learners are assumed to:
Able to listen, read, and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace literacy and numeracy level 4
Recommended to have 1 year of working experience in any industry

Certifications Granted:

Attaining competence in this course will enable the CERT to meet the requirements under the National CERT standard.

This course targets the Emergency Response Teams (ERT) of public and industrial buildings with FSM, storing less than 5 metric tons of petroleum and flammable materials, premises with underground petrol storage, and premises storing diesel in aboveground tanks. It is designed for Company Emergency Response Teams (CERT), Fire Safety Officers, and staff who are first responders to fire incidents in buildings.
