Course Overview

Operate Scissor lift Course | MEWP provides essential training for individuals assigned to operate scissor lifts, ensuring they can do so safely and effectively. It covers key topics including scissor lift selection, risk assessment, hazard identification, basic operations, and safe reinstatement procedures. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to operate scissor lifts in compliance with safety regulations.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Select an appropriate MEWP, including risk assessment for the task to be carried out
  • State the safety requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and the Code of practice for working safely at height related to MEWP
  • Carry out pre-start inspection
  • State factors affecting stability
  • Identify common hazards during traveling, setup, operation, and parking of MEWP and their control measure
  • Conduct workplace inspection
  • State function of all MEWP controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures.
  • Use personal protective equipment appropriate to the task, worksite, and environment as a result of the Risk assessment conducted and according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Operate MEWP safely

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Learners are expected to be 18 years old and above.
  • Have basic knowledge of the relevant sector or work.
  • Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 3.
  • Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 3.
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 3.
  • Be medically fit to work at height.

Certifications Granted:

WSQ (SOA) Statement of Attainment (e-certificate) will be issued for the courses conducted in English only.
