Course Overview

Operate Boom lift Course | MEWP is a mandatory course required under the Workplace Safety and Health (Operation of Cranes) Regulations, provides essential training for individuals involved in lifting operations with boom lifts. Participants will learn to select the right boom lift, conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and perform safe operations and reinstatements.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

Select an appropriate MEWP, including conducting a risk assessment for the task to be carried out.
State the safety requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and the Code of Practice for Working Safely at Height related to MEWPs.
Carry out a pre-start inspection.
State factors affecting stability.
Identify common hazards during traveling, setup, operation, and parking of MEWPs and their control measures.
Conduct workplace inspections.
State the function of all MEWP controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures.
Use personal protective equipment appropriate to the task, worksite, and environment, based on the risk assessment and manufacturer’s guidelines.
Operate MEWPs safely.

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

Have basic knowledge of the relevant sector or work.
Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills (ES) Level 3.
Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills (ES) Level 3.
Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills (ES) Level 3.
Be medically fit to work at height.
100% attendance is required to be eligible to sit for the examination.
Learners are expected to be 18 years old and above.
