Course Overview

This competency unit is sequenced to cover key points from a ‘chronological’ approach from preparing for security operations at the command center, to responding to security incidents at sites from the command center, to monitoring the progress of corrective and preventive action and reporting incidents

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Carry out takeover procedures promptly to ensure continuity of security monitoring according to organisational procedure
  • Check status and operation of the security command center and security systems by organisational procedures
  • Maintain communication with deployed security field personnel
  • Take appropriate action where contact cannot be established with deployed security field personnel
  • Record actions taken in relevant documentation
  • Identify and determine the criticality of the situation
  • Respond to situation
  • Update appropriate documents accurately and clearly
  • Communicate non-routine or outstanding issues and situations to incoming security personnel for follow-up within the stipulated time ensuring continuity of security monitoring
  • Carry out handover procedures in a timely manner to ensure continuity of security monitoring according to organizational procedures

Prerequisites:

Learners must be 18 years or older. This module is suitable for individuals with relevant skills and knowledge gained through previous learning or at least 6 months of experience as a security officer. It is also aimed at licensed Security Officers who have obtained certification under the National Skills Recognition System, those looking to upgrade their skills to a supervisory level, or those aspiring to become security supervisors.

Learners enrolling in this module are expected to have acquired relevant skills and knowledge through prior work experience or learning as a security officer. They should hold at least a secondary education qualification and be proficient in reading, listening, speaking, and writing English at Employability Skills System (ESS) Level 6 or above.

Target Audience:
Security Supervisor (SS) looking to be promoted to Senior Security Supervisor (SSS) on the Progressive Wage Model (PWM)
Medium of Instruction: English.
Only participants with 100% attendance will be eligible to sit for the examination.
Dress code: Shirt (long or short sleeve), Pant (No jeans), Black shoes.
Course Duration: 10.5 hours (including 2 hours of assessment conducted by POLWEL).
