WSQ Implement Incident Management Processes Course

Course Overview

This course equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to manage emergency incidents in a processing facility. Participants will learn how to implement incident management processes, utilize effective communication methods, control resources, and conduct post-emergency evaluations. Through case studies, learners will gain practical insights into managing real-life emergencies.

Prerequisites:

Learners are assumed to:

  • Possess good knowledge of relevant organizational emergency response plans, procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Possess good knowledge of emergency response concepts.
  • Possess related training or work experience in a process plant.
  • Be able to gather information and compile necessary data.
  • Possess basic knowledge of decision-making processes and models.
  • Have communication skills using various methods and techniques.

Learning Units:

The competency units are listed as follows:

  • Interpret incident management approach and structure
  • Utilize incident management areas and processes to implement emergency response strategies.
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods when managing an incident to control all internal and external resources.
  • Control and maintain the Incident management process to assess information on the status of the emergency.
  • Undertake post-emergency evaluation and debrief.

This competency unit covers the skills and knowledge required by the person in charge of a facility to implement the incident management process during an emergency incident in a processing facility.
This unit covers the approach, structure, tools, processes, and communication methods that can be utilized during an emergency incident.
10 FSM points applicable.
4 SDU Points applicable (Validity Period for SDU points – 1 Jul 2024 to 31 Dec 2024). WSHO can claim SDU points once only, for a course. The SDU points could not be claimed for a repeat or refresher course.
