Hazmat Transport Driver Permit Course

Course Overview

This course is designed for drivers transporting hazardous materials on Singapore roads. It covers essential topics such as hazard identification, the 9 classes of dangerous goods, driver responsibilities, emergency response plans, and transport controls for explosives, radioactive materials, and biological agents. Participants will also learn about transportation regulations, vehicle requirements, and basic firefighting skills, ensuring safe and compliant transportation of hazardous materials.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped with:

  • Skills necessary to handle a relatively simple fire incident that might happen anywhere in the workplace.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be sponsored by the company.
  • Enrolment is subject to MHA screening.
  • Participants must wear long-sleeved shirts.
  • Assumed Skills & Knowledge: Learners are assumed to have workplace literacy level 3 or equivalent.

  • What are hazardous materials
  • Hazards Identification of Dangerous Goods
  • 9 classes of DG and the associated hazards
  • Transport of explosives transport control; duties and responsibilities of driver; emergency response plan
  • Transport of radioactive materials transport control; duties and responsibilities of driver; emergency response plan
  • Transport of biological agents and toxins transport control; duties and responsibilities of driver; emergency response plan
  • Controls on the transportation of hazardous material by road transport vehicle requirement; licensing control driver permit; tracking of vehicles; transportation hours.
  • Transport emergency response plan (TERP)
  • 5-point safety checks on LPG systems in the household.
  • Basic fire fighting; portable fire extinguisher (Theory & Practical)

Additional Details:

This course will be suitable for drivers who are engaged in transporting hazardous materials on Singapore roads.
Drivers must carry a valid permit whenever he is driving a vehicle transporting hazardous materials.
Legal compliance:
Under the current legislation of the Fire Safety Act (FSA) and Environmental Pollution Control Act, drivers, transporting hazardous materials, are required to be competently trained in preventing and mitigating accidental releases.
