Effective 1 July 2023, all food handlers employed in both retail and non-retail food establishments licensed by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) are required to obtain the Food Safety Course Level 1 (FSC) certification.
The Food Safety Course Level 1, Formerly known as the Food Safety Hygiene Course or the Basic Food Hygiene Course, is mandatory for all food handlers. The Food Hygiene Course also enables an individual to have a valid FSC L1 which is also a Food Hygiene Certificate to become a qualified Food Handler.
