The CSOC Course stands for Construction Safety Orientation Course, now officially known as the Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites Course. This training ensures that workers understand the essential safety measures required to work safely on construction sites.

How long is the CSOC Course valid for?

  • For Workers with Less Than 6 Years of Experience:
    • Must pass the CSOC Course test every 2 years.
  • For Workers with 6 or More Years of Experience:
    • Required to pass the CSOC Course test every 4 years.
  • Recertification Requirements:
    • Existing Workers must be re-certified when their certificate expires.
    • Foreign Workers must pass the CSOC Course before renewing their work permit.

Can Workers work without CSOC?

No. The CSOC Course is mandatory for all construction workers as required by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM). It ensures that all workers are trained in essential safety practices to reduce workplace hazards and prevent accidents.

Course Overview

CSOC Course | Construction Safety Orientation Course | Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites is mandatory for all construction workers. This training equips workers with essential knowledge to understand their roles, follow safe procedures, manage risks—especially when working at heights—and respond to fire emergencies. This ensures a safer construction site environment.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Recognize and fulfill your roles and responsibilities within a construction environment.
  • Adhere to and implement safe work procedures specific to construction tasks.
  • Apply appropriate safety measures when working at heights.
  • Effectively respond to fire emergencies.

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • All new workers (Work Permit or S Pass) must complete the Basic English for Migrant Workers course before registering for the CSOC Course | Construction Safety Orientation Course | Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites Course in Vietnamese unless they are proficient in English.
  • New or first-time trainees taking the CSOC Course | Construction Safety Orientation Course | Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites Course 2-day course are not required to show the e-certificate for the WSH Microlearning Programme. They are exempt from attending the WSH Microlearning Programme at this stage.
  • Bring one of the following documents (photocopy or original) to attend the class: Work Permit, IPA, Passport, NRIC, S Pass, or Employment Pass.
  • Wear safety shoes and appropriate attire (no singlets, shorts, or bermudas).
  • Achieve 100% attendance to be eligible for the test; latecomers will not be admitted.

Learning Units:

  • Identify legal obligations in Workplace Safety and Health.
  • Identify hazards on a construction site, including fire, explosion, falls from heights, falling objects, safe access, chemicals, mechanical and electrical risks, radiation, material handling, working in confined spaces, and specialized operations.
  • Recognize all types of industrial safety signs.
  • Apply for a safety permit before hot work.
  • Put on personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Take safety precautions when working with various hazards mentioned above, as well as other emerging risks such as heat stroke, infectious diseases, ergonomics, etc.
  • Respond appropriately in case of fire or emergency.

Certifications Granted:

WSQ (SOA) Statement of Attainment (e-certificate) will be issued for the courses conducted in English only.
