Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry & Work Course | Confined Space Assessor Course

Course Overview

This course equips participants with the necessary skills to safely assess and work in confined spaces. Key objectives include preparing for confined space assessments, identifying hazards, conducting gas testing, and implementing risk control measures. Participants will also learn how to monitor confined space conditions and respond to emergencies, ensuring a safe working environment.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Prepare for the Confined Space Assessment
  • Identify hazards and take measures in Confined Space
  • Conduct gas testing to ascertain the atmospheric condition in the confined space is safe for entry
  • Participate in risk control and emergency response for entry into and working in a confined space
  • Monitor the Confined Space conditions and Control measures for safe working.

Prerequisites:

Learners must fulfill the Literacy and WSH Skills / Working Experience requirements.

Literacy requirements:
WSQ Employability Skills Workplace Literacy Level 6; or Grade C6 in GCE ‘O’ Level for English.

WSH Skills / Working Experience requirements:
A) WSH Skills & Knowledge equivalent to Certificate in WSH / BCSS / SSSC / BISH / SWSPP / SWCSO or
B) 3 Years of relevant working experience in operations and coordination of safety work.

Assumed Attitude:
Attitude that the individual is recommended to possess before taking up the unit to confidently undertake the unit and to be successful subsequently on the job.

The person should be vigilant, alert, and wary at all times to spot hazards to safeguard the person as well as others entering and working in the confined space. Being adaptable, and able to think and respond fast is also important in reacting to any situations that may occur during confined space assessment and monitoring.

The persons should be self-directed, with an analytical mind and a meticulous approach to problem-solving; assertive, and objective, standing by decisions and carrying out actions based on test results and reliable data.

28 PDU Points applicable. Participants must indicate their PE number in the Trainee Attendance List on the course date.
20 SDU Points applicable (Validity Period for SDU points – 1 Jul 2024 to 31 Dec 2024). WSHO can claim SDU points once only, for a course. The SDU points could not be claimed for a repeat or refresher course.
Please note that the e-cert will be generated with the Technical Skills & Competencies (TSC) Title, Confined Space Management. The safety card will be issued with the Competency Unit title, Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry & Work
