Course Overview

This course provides you with knowledge to recognize your roles and duties in painting activity and the preventive measures to be taken to ensure that painting works are done safely.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Recognize your roles and duties in painting activity and the preventive measures to be taken to ensure that painting works are done safely

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Participants must have attended and passed the SSIC for Workers (General Trade) before attending this course

Learning Units:

  • Introduction to Shipyard Safety Instruction Course (Painters Trade)
  • Fire and explosion hazards & safety measures
  • Airless spraying hazards and safety measures
  • Health hazards and preventive measures
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Safe storage of paints and solvents on board vessels
  • Vessel Safety Coordination Committee (VSCC) Meetings
  • Permit-to-work system – Application for a painting permit
  • Worker’s safety checklist for painting works
  • Written Assessment

Additional Details:

Trainees with 100% attendance will only be allowed to sit for the test. Latecomers are strictly not allowed into the class.
Trainees must bring along any one of the following documents (photocopy or original) to be allowed to attend the class.
Work permit / IPA & Passport / NRIC / S Pass / Employment Pass
