Course Overview

Perform Rigging of Suspended Scaffold | PRSS Course, formerly known as Suspended Scaffolding Riggers’ Course | SSRC Course provides trainees with the knowledge and skills in the rigging of suspended scaffolds in construction and other industries.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Understand standard components and parts of suspended scaffold including different outriggers and anchorages
  • Perform pre-start check of equipment and gears, start-up procedures, shut-down procedures and emergency procedures
  • Perform rigging, termination of wire ropes, and installation of suspended scaffold
  • Perform a visual check of the suspended scaffold, braking system, safety devices, anchorage points, wire ropes, and related details
  • Perform troubleshooting of the winch/climbing mechanism
  • Use personal protection equipment (body harness) and lifeline

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 3 and above
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy level 3 and above

Only the trainees with 100% Attendance will be allowed to sit for the test.

  • Safe work practices and regulatory requirements
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Safe rigging of suspended scaffolds
  • Interpretation of design drawings
  • Accident investigations

Certifications Granted:

WSQ (SOA) Statement of Attainment (e-certificate) will be issued for the courses conducted in English only.

Outdoor practical classes may be postponed if required, due to unforeseen circumstances like rain.
An approved scaffold contractor shall employ or engage only scaffold supervisors, scaffold erectors, and suspended scaffold (gondola) riggers who have undergone a course of training approved by the Chief Inspector Every suspended scaffold (gondola) shall be erected, installed, repositioned, altered, or dismantled by a suspended scaffold (gondola) rigger who has undergone a course of training approved by the Commissioner.
