Course Overview

The bizSAFE Level 4 | DWSHMSIP | Develop a WSH Management System Implementation Plan course is designed to equip managers with the skills and knowledge required to develop and implement an effective Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Management System. This course focuses on enhancing organizational safety protocols and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, specifically under the bizSAFE 4 framework.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Identify deficiencies in the WSH policy and risk management plan and ensure compliance with SS 506 and risk management codes.
  • Apply hazard identification and risk assessment to minimize risks and ensure safety measures align with SS 506.
  • Set clear WSH objectives and design programs to achieve them in line with organizational safety policies.
  • Develop a WSH management program framework that meets the safety and health needs of the organization and complies with legal requirements.
  • Establish an emergency preparedness and response plan according to WSH legal requirements.
  • Implement operational controls to manage WSH risks using the hierarchy of controls and ensure legal compliance.
  • Design performance measurement procedures to monitor and assess WSH effectiveness based on organizational and legal standards.
  • Establish processes for thorough investigation and reporting of workplace accidents/incidents in line with legal requirements.
  • Implement an internal audit program to assess the WSH management system’s adherence to SS 506 and legal standards.
  • Develop and execute a WSH management system implementation plan based on identified organizational needs and legal requirements.
  • Conduct a management review of the WSH management system to ensure continued compliance and effectiveness.
  • Effectively communicate and present the WSH management system plan to relevant stakeholders for review and feedback.

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of their organizational products/services.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of their organizational safety management system.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of their organizational safety and health needs.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of sources of workplace hazards.
  • Have in-depth skills and knowledge in hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk management as well as the hierarchy of risk control measures.
  • Be self-directed and proactive toward problem-solving safety issues.
  • Be able to lead, communicate, and with good presentation skills.
  • Have an analytical mind with people management skills

Learning Units:

  • Review WSH policy and risk management plan for deficiencies against the requirements of SS 506 and risk management code of practice.
  • Apply hazard identification and risk assessment methodology to determine the controls necessary in reducing risks at source in accordance with requirements of SS 506 and risk management code of practice.
  • Set WSH objectives and determine specific programme(s) to enable the achievement of the WSH objectives for organization in alignment with WSH policy.
  • Establish a WSH management programme framework for an organization to embark on to meet the organizational safety and health needs in accordance with WSH legal and other requirements.
  • Establish a framework for organizational emergency preparedness and response plan in accordance with WSH legal and other requirements.
  • Develop operational control to manage the WSH risks to an acceptable level in consistent with the hierarchy of controls and comply with applicable WSH legal and other requirements.
  • Develop performance measurement and monitoring procedures to monitor and measure WSH performance in accordance with organizational safety and health needs and WSH legal and other requirements.
  • Develop processes for investigation and reporting of accidents/incidents based on WSH legal and other requirements.
  • Establish an internal audit programme to evaluate the organizational WSH management system for conformance to SS 506 requirements and WSH legal and other requirements.
  • Develop the WSH management system implementation plan based on the needed changes identified that fulfill SS 506 requirements and risk management code of practice.
  • Conduct a management review of the WSH management system to ensure its continuing stability, adequacy, and effectiveness in accordance with SS 506 requirements and WSH legal and other requirements.
  • Present to stakeholders the developed WSH management system implementation plan for review in accordance with organizational procedures.

Certifications Granted:

WSQ (SOA) Statement of Attainment (e-certificate) will be issued for the courses conducted in English only.
